ABSTRACTS OF PAPERS PUBLISHED IN NEFTEKHIMIYA VoL 23 No. 6 HYDROCARBONS OF ADAMANTANE SERIES (review) Yc. I.'Bagrii, Neftekhimiya 23, No. 6, 723-739, 1983. IR SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF HYDROCARBONS OF 1,1,-DIPHENYLETHANE AND ~,1-DIPHENYLETHYLENE SERIES ~/i. V. Shishkina, V. D. Ryabov, A. Ya. Sideridu, V. Yu. K o r o b k o v and V~ I. Bykov, Neftekhirniya 23, No. 6, 762-764, 1983. IR absorption spectra of hydrocarbons of l,l-diphenylethane and 1,1-diphenylethylene series were examined and IR absorption bands assigned. Special features of IR absorption spectra were found to be related to structural differences of the compounds. Displacement of out-of-plane deformation vibration bands in liquid isomers is due to the presence of several rotary isomers. HYDROGENATION OF ACETYLENE ON A, X AND L TYPE GADOLINIUM ZEOLITES S. F. Yushehenko, Z. V. Gryaznova, N. N. Naskidashvili and A. M. Dmitriyev, Neftekhimiya 23, No. 6, 768-775, 1983. A, X, L type gadolinium-containing zeolites were demonstrated to be active in the hydrogenation of acetylene to ethylene and gadolinium ions and zeolite structure were found to have a marked effect on catalyst activity. Under pulse conditions hydrogenation starts above 200~ under continuous conditions, it is observed above 400~ At temperatures higher than 600~ the crystalline structure of all the zeolites studied breaks down. It was established that when adding different amounts of air Io acetylene the number" of active centres in a zeolite of a given type changes, which increases the degree of transformation of acetylene. The type of active centre remains unchanged. DEHYDROGENATION OF 1,1-DIPHENYLETHANE AND 1,1-BIS.(p-TOLYL)ETHANE ON

PtlC

V. D. Ryabov, V. I. Bykov and V. Yu. Korobkov, Neftekhimiya 23, No. 6, 776-778, 1983. IT WAS found that 1,1-diphenylethane and l,l-bis-(p-tolyl)ethane are selectively (,,~100~.) dehydrogenated on Pt/C in helium flow at 380~ to 540~ and with a contact time of 0.3 6 to 7.20 see to folm 1,1-diphenylethylene and 1,1-bis-(p-tolyl)ethylene, respectively. RING FORMATION OF ~, r COMPOUNDS

BY THE ACTION OF ORGANOALU~IINIUM

V. I. Smetanyuk, G. F. Brodovskaya, A. A. Antonov, M. V. Ul'yanova and N. S. Nametkin, Neftekhimiya 23, No. 6, 784-790, 1983. STABLEetherates of 5-alkenyl derivatives of aluminium and 1,6-organobialuminium compounds were synthesized by hydroaluminizing ~,m-dienes with di-isobutylaluminium hydride etherate. Ring formation, which accompanies the interaction of ~,r with tri-isobutylaluminium, takes place via the formation of 5-alkenyl derivatives of aluminium. 254
