News from the National Lipid Association Pacific Lipid Association 3rd Annual Scientific Forum in Salt Lake City—Register Now There is still time to register and join the Pacific Lipid Association at its 3rd Scientific Forum being held in Salt Lake City, Utah, February 20–22, 2009. With its theme of ‘‘Point/Counterpoint: Current Debates in the Management of Dyslipidemia,’’ this meeting promises to be one of our most exciting ever. Make plans to attend. Lipid.org 2.0 Coming Soon We are now in the final stages of testing our new Website, which is designed to help you accomplish more. We have research tools, networking features, ways to help you interact with your colleagues, and share insights in clinical lipidology and the practice of medicine. Visit www.lipid.org often and watch for our invitation to participate in a public Beta test of our look and functionality.
Georgia Lipid Academy We have held two courses to date and are now checking our progress to see how much this program has improved outcomes for patients in Georgia’s rural areas. This program is taught by members of SELA, and participant feedback has been positive. The NLA hopes to increase the knowledge of healthcare providers in this region, which has
some of the highest levels of CVD in the US. This program is sponsored by the State of Georgia and attendance is free for any state healthcare providers. Registration is available at www.lipid.org/georgialipids. As we obtain results from this project, we’ll continue to report to you on our progress.
NLA Cardiometabolic Risk Reduction Course In 2009, a new phase of the NLA Comprehensive Cardiometabolic Risk Reduction (CCRR) Course will launch. This course provides information on pharmacologic and lifestyle strategies for the management of cardiometabolic risk. Issues in the management of patients with multiple risk factors will emphasized. Many of the 2009 courses will be held in conjunction with NLA regional meetings.
