Ultrasound Transducer Analyzer Kfaufkfamer Branson Lewistown, Pa. Krautkramer Branson’s UTAJ ultrasonic transducer analyzer is used to determine the operating characteristics of ultrasound transducers. The unit can operate independently of an ultrasound scanner, making it ideal for use in a
with other equipment for pulse-echo and through-transmission analysis; attenuation measurements; sound beam profiling; analysis of transducer frequency response; thickness measurements; and material characterization. It is designed to operate in an automatic test system through the IEEE-488 controller or with the menu-driven front panel interface in manual mode. The UTA-5 offers 64 stored setups; menu-driven parameter controls; gated rf output; high gain, low noise broadband receiver (2-50 MHz); and single gain control with automatic signal-tonoise optimization. Nonabsorbent Spill Barriers NewPig Corp. Tipton, Pa. New Pig Corp. has introduced three new nonabsorbent barriers in its family of Spillblocker products: the Leakblocker Dike, Doorblocker Dike, and Spillblocker Donut. All three products help temporarily dike, dam, or divert the flow of water, petroleum products, and many chemicals without absorbing them. These reusable polyurethane dikes, along with the original New Pig Spillblocker Dike, create fast, temporary barriers to prevent the con-

tamination of areas surrounding spills and leaks. These barriers are flexible, moldable, sturdy, and shaped like a triangle. All three products form a tight seal on smooth surfaces, and are durable, reusable, and resistant to many chemicals, making them applicable to both everyday and emergency spills. In addition, the barriers are convenient and easy to use-simply remove them from their individual carrying cases and place them where needed to confine, control, or divert the flow of a liquid. Multiangle Spectrophotometers Minolta Corp. Ramsey, N. J. Minolta Corp. introduces the CM5 12ml and CM-512m2 multiangle spectrophotometers. Designed with three-angle illumination/single-angle viewing geometry, both make highly accurate measurements of metallic color and pearlescent finishes. A true-
angle function provides higher measurement accuracy and repeatability by automatically positioning the spectrophotometers perpendicular to the specimen surface, regardless of the contour. In addition to color, the spectrophotometers can simultaneously measure the specimen surface temperature from 0-70°C in 0.1 increments. The CM-512ml measures at the DIN recommended angles of 25”, 45”, and 72.5’ from specular incidence of viewing. The CM-512m2 uses the 15’, 45”, 110” geometry licenses from E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. from specular incidence of viewing. Both models have 45’ viewing angle and are fully portable for easy on-site measurement.
plating of zinc die castings, aluminum, and steel after an application of the appropriate base coat. Base coats can be cyanide copper, electrolytic or electroless nickel, depending on the application The Cuprafin 800 process produces a deposit that has outstanding brightness in deep recessed areas, excellent ductility and leveling, as well as good temperature tolerance. The stability of the organic components avoids formation of harmful breakdown products, resulting in easy startup after weekends or other idle periods. Additionally, the solution is free rinsing, assuring good adhesion between the acid copper and subsequent deposits.
