Certification to EHEDG CIP Protocol The Pureflo 55 Series range of ultra hygienic pumps introduced by ITT Jabsco has just received certification to EHEDG CIP Protocol, the only internationally recognised test able to prove the hygiene standards of pumps and similar equipment. The European Hygienic Equipment Design Group (EHEDG) was established to influence standards of design and testing of hygienic equipment to ensure that all food products are processed hygienically and safely. The EHEDG in-place cleanability test protocol is rigorous and subjects each pump to five consecutive CIP tests where the cleanability is compared to that of a straight piece of pipe. These test procedures are carried out through appointed centres and ITT Jabsco chose TNO, the Dutch National Testing Authority, to assess the 55 Series. Every element of this pump, including shaft seals, pump

head and joints, passed all 5 tests and the 55 Series was awarded it’s certificate on 3 March 1995. ITT Jabsco believes that the Pureflo 55 Series is the only pump, of its type independently tested and certified to this protocol. With increased public awareness surrounding food hygiene it is not surprising that the EEC Safety of Machinery Directive contains special requirements for equipment used in food processing and the EHEDG Protocol is the only CIP test able to prove conformity to these requirements. Personnel changes Ivan Ball has been appointed to the new role of Customer Support Manager at Stuart Turner Ltd.
