Conocephalua urnlgerus larvae). The total infection reached 60%. The trematodeeO.ranae (24,%), P.varlagatus (25) and nematodea R.bufonia (23,481) predominated.&era frequent wore P. vitelllloba (II,?%) and nematodes O,filiformio (8 94%). Other rpeciee were scarce6 (I,16 to 3,8$). Malee were infected by a larger number of helminth species than females (16 and 12, respectively).

Science University, Tokyo. Japan and **D, Wildlife Coaservatioa. Tokp University of Agricolture & Technology, Tokyo, Japan and **Tokyo Wild Research Center, Tokyo, Japan Recently. heavy scabies are widely spreadingin wild animals throughoutJapan Especially. in rawon &gs (Nyrftwutes proryonoides viverrinus , called Hoc& Tam&i in Japan). them are sevcrc symptoms iackding general alopecia and skin incmssation. Almost alopecic mdogs are died of severe debilitation after all. and cxten&ation d smne cdmies d rdogs was observed in endemic have to be w&d out tqqxnly. but tbc area. But actually. them is a little resomce for immtmdogicaI research in nwon dogs because d immunologiul spccifiiity among animal species. So. as th fmt a~pwach, we examined the humoral immunity response using Protein A which is purified fmm Sa7phylccoccw aureu~ and binds some kind of antibodies witb little species-specificity. Specitic antibodiur were measured by enzyme-linked immmtosotbent assay @LISA) using extracted subietc mite.8antigen prepared according to the method dArlian(1996).Scnwerrcdlcccedfnn~groupsdseverr scatietic@andled a.9 positive) and intlct (bat&d a8 ngativc) tacoon doga in aa cmkmic area. Averages (t SD) d qhal density(OD)v&esin ELlSA agaitwt positive md qativc scra were 0.678ao.360 (tt=ZO)and 0.057iO.U.20 (14) respectively. OD values d all positive sm we-c hi&a than the cutdf level (=0.116) which was calculated byfollowing formola: (average OD value of negative sera)+3n(SD of OD value d negative saa). This result shows that scabietic rawon dogs produced antibodies against wtbietic mites extmct, and intact racwm dogs living endemic area di&Lthave such antibodies. Serial sem were also collected fmm the two serrbictictacoon dogs which tecovemd after twatment The OD valor d tkir initial seta were 0.453 4 0.409. Aitatkn, OD values were dwea.4 quickly 118rccovcr-ingfrom scabies. Firtally.both mcoon dogs were ccmplctely recovemd clinically approximately 1.S mm& after treatment.then OD values were 0.099 and 0.107. These values were lower than the cutdf kvcl. These results suggest that humoral immunity might not act prophylactically against rubies in spite of that is activated in scabies.

~ssmmx ON TICKS (ACARI?IX~DIDAE) IN DXTiiRZ FOCI OF CCHF MD LYME DISEASE (SERDIA)

Milutinovib MT hleisic Nxx, XuliSif.Zxx, Pavlovic I" XInstitute fB1;Medical Research,Delgrade, Yugoslavia, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Belgrade, Yugoslavia In research of fauna and ecology of ticks as haematophagous arthropods, it is of great importance zoogeographic distribution, namely eventual presence of the species appears as indicator species for that region and disease. To obtain better understanding of epidemiological and epizootiological agents inside a specific region, faunintic and ecological investigations of ticks in Serbia were carried out between 1995 and 1997. The following six species: DiSrmacentor marginatus,Rhipicephalus bursa, Rhipiceptalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus, Raemaphysalis punctata and Haemaphysalis sulcata. The faunistic composition, relative abundance , nooulation dynamics and sex ratio of detected species were investigated. The temperature , relative humidity and precipitation were monitored in terms of their respective effects on the dynamics of tick populations.
