The lower activity of sebaceous glands are presumably caused by the deficiency of hormones,such as androqe", estrogen or proqesterone. Jn this paper the value of hormone was estimated in patlent with atopic dermatitis compared with healthy controls.

It is known that mononuclear leukocytes accumulate in inflammatory lesion of atopic dermatitis. Tn the present study to investigate the mechanism of the accumulation, macrophage chemotactic activity (MCA) was determined in cutaneous anaphylactic reaction in patients with atopic MCA was dermatitis using skin chamber technique. remarkably increased in the chamber fluid obtained from the site with antigen at the interval of 1 hr up to 4 hr while at the control site there was no remarkable increase of MCA. The result shows that cutaneous anaphylactic reaction may evoke macrophage accumulation at the inflammatory lesion in the patients with atopic dermatitis.

We also revealedthat there are partial cross-reactionsbetween rice and wheat .antigens,and that wheae allergy may play an impurtant role in developemeneof severe AD in some cases. In this paper. we fractionatedthe wheat antigen proteins to water-, 1M N&l-, 70% ethanol-, and 4M urea-solublefracrions, and assayed IgE antibody tifer against rnch fraction. i-heresult:;showed thae 1M N&l-suluble fractionmay be major allergenic component of wheat. Then ,.,e prepared hypoallrrgenic wheat by decompositionof the fraction,and examined its clinical effect.
