The Association of Operating Room Nurses will celebrate a milestone in its history as it holds the 25th anniversary of its annual Congresses March 12 to 17 in New Orleans. The continuous growth of the Association has been reflected in all Congresses since the first meeting Feb 1 to 3, 1954 in New York City. Approximately 1,800 nurses and 50 exhibiting companies participated in that event; the 1977 Anaheim Congress was attended by more than 5,300 nurses and 260 exhibiting companies. “Silver images-olden horizons,” the theme, focuses on the accomplishments of the past with a commitment and vision to the future. Special programs will be dedicated to the celebration. Three meetings of the House of Delegates will permit time for discussion of issues af-

fecting nurses. The sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons will be preceded by Forums on Monday and Tuesday mornings. At the Forums, delegates and members will have the opportunity to present their views in informal discussion. More than 40 educational sessions will be held during the six-day meeting, the majority in the Louisiana Superdome, the site of registration and exhibits. The opening session will be at 1 pm Sunday in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel, which will also be the location of meetings with large attendance. This will be followed by the “Meet-the-candidates’’ program at 3:15 pm. The Superdome and Hyatt Regency are connected by an uncovered ramp. The AORN Banquet from 6:30 to 8:30 pm

transferable to another registrant because of the difficulty that transferring presents in accounting procedures. Registrants who want to take advantage of the member registration fee should ascertain if their membership is current. Nurses and exhibitors must make reservations for official AORN Congress hotels through the Association. Registrants must indicate their choice of hotel on the registration form, and the AORN Congress Department advises making, more than one choice. If only one hotel is indicated and there are no more rooms available in that facility, the registration will be placed on a pending status until further instruction from the registrant or the Congress Department will select a hotel. All hotels, with the exception of the New Orleans Hilton, require a deposit of one-night charge to reserve a room. The Hilton requires a like deposit if arrival is after 5 pm. The deposit is not to be sent to AORN Headquarters but directly to the hotel after receiving confirmation. A $5 fee will be charged for a change in a hotel reservation, and a check for the fee must accompany the request for change. The AORN Congress Department emphasizes that the registration fee for Congress must be sent to AORN Headquarters and the deposit for hotel reservation directly to the hotel. A single check to cover both fees and sent to Headquarters will have to be returnedto the registrant.

Monday will be at the New Orleans Hilton. Tuesday evening will be set aside for the Exhibitors’ Party-a Mardi Gras-from 8 pm to midnight at the Rivergate Convention Center. The registration brochure, “Silver images-golden horizons,” will be mailed to members this month. It will contain the registration form, which must be postmarked no later than Jan 28, 1978 for advance registration. A check or money order in United States currency for the registration fee must accompany the registration form. Registration fees are refundable only by written request that must be postmarked no later than March 31, 1978. Registration fees are not
