Poliya acquires Cam Elyaf resins business TURKISH RESINS producer Poliya has acquired the resins business of Turkish glass fibre producer Cam Elyaf. Poliya is a supplier of speciality composite resins headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. Cam Elyaf, part of Turkey’s Sisecam Group, produces glass fibre products and resins for the composites industry. With the acquisition of Cam Elyaf’s resins business, Poliya expands its range of composites products and achieves a capacity of 65 000 tons per year – the largest capacity in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, the company claims.

The new Poliya business group will be a leading bulk resin provider, with the ability to serve the pipe, wind energy and transportation sectors among others. “With this transformation, we are now a global force, with the capability to serve our clients – whatever their size, location or sector – with one of the most comprehensive and competitive portfolios in the industry,” says Buelent Oeztuna, Poliya lead M&A officer and board member. 3A Composites teams up with Chinese firm 3A COMPOSITES has signed an agreement with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam producer Tiansheng New Materials to jointly market structural core materials in China, with a focus on the wind energy industry. 3A Composites also becomes the exclusive worldwide distributor of Tiansheng’s core materials. Under the agreement, 3A Composites, which produces the Airex® foam and Baltek® balsa wood core material products, and Tiansheng will provide the Chinese market with locally produced PVC foam core materials as well as balsa wood products. In addition to China’s large wind energy market, the companies

will target the bulk freight and marine industries. 3A Composites, a division of Swiss group Schweiter Technologies, says it evaluated several potential partners and identified Tiansheng as the company with the strongest product-related and technological position. Based in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, Tiansheng focuses on the production of polymer foam materials, including structural foam.
