PATENT ABSTRACTS Novel antihemophilic factor concentrates and process for making the same are disclosed. An aqueous solution of anithemophilic factor proteins is obtained, preferably by solubilizing antihemophilic factor proteins from blood plasma cryoprecipitate in water. The aqueous solution is purified to remove unwanted protein, for example, by mixing the aqueous solution with aluminum hydroxide. Then, the aqueous solution is ultrafiltered to concentrate it, mixed with buffer and saline and adjusted to an acid pH. and freeze-dried.

4456550 VASCULAR PERMEABILITY FACTOR Harold F Dvorak. Donald R Senger assigned to President and Fellows of Harvard College A purified vascular permeability protein factor and method of manufacture, wherein the factor has the following characteristics: (a) in an aqueous solution (0.01 M Na3PO4, pH 7) whose concentration of NaCI is varied linearly, the factor is eluted from a heparin-Sepharose chromatography column in a peak centered at 0.4 M NaCI; (b) in an aqueous solution of Na3PO4 (pH 7.0) whose concentration is varied linearly, the factor is eluted from a hydroxylapatite column in a peak centered at 0.25 M Na3PO4; (c) when subjected to SDS gel dec_ trophoresis in a 7.5°0 polyacrylamide slab gel (0.375 M tris-HCI (pH 8.8), 0.1°,.~SDS) at 35 milliamps and 4 degrees C., the factor is localized to a region corresponding to a molecular weight between 34,000 and 45,000 daltons.

HEALING GLYCOSIDE COMPOSITIONS

Rolf Schafer. 4133 Pratteln BL, Switzerland Compositions which stimulate tissue regeneration and whose active components are substances present in mammalian tissues and fluids are described. The active substances are a polypeptide consisting of 52 amino acids and having a molecular weight of about 5800. a glycostero~d and a glycosphingolipid. Compositions which contain the active ingredients accelerate wound healing when applied in the nano- to microgram ranges. Means for recovering the substances from mammalian materials in concentrated form by biochemical parting methods arc also described.

4456691 ANTIGEN FOR PCB, ANTIBODY RAISED BY SAME, AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME Suad Stark A polychlorinated bipbenyl hapten is covalentl~ bonded to a macromolecule carrier through a diazo-containing linking group. In forming the conjugate, a PCB hapten is nitrated, aminated. diazotized and finally coupled with the macromolecule carrier. The antigen may be used to raise antibodies specific to the hapten and binding with the hapten.

4456589 PREPARATION OF ANIMAL TISSUES FOR SURGICAL IMPLANTATION IN HUMAN RECIPIENTS Daniel G Holman, Arthur A Beisang assigned to Genetic Laboratories lnc A process for treating animal tissue to make it acceptable for implantation in a human recipient without rejection or reabsorption, the process including the step of tanning the cartilage chemically or by irradiation: a preliminary dehydration step and a subsequent step of storage in an anti-microbial medium may also be used.

4457915 BABESIOSIS VACCINE PREPARED FROM SOLUBLE PARASITIC ANTIGEN FACTORS ISOLATED FROM DISINTEGRATION OF BABESIA INFECTED ERYTHROCITES Brian Goodger, David Mahoney, lan G Wright. Mt Nebo, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia This invention relates to a method of preparation of a babesiosis vaccine which involves treating a suspension of Babesia infected erythrocytes. The erythrocytes are disintegrated,
