COMBINED COOLING AND HEATING PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR CONDITIONING A ROOM

ELECTRONIC COMPONENT COOLING UNIT

Adolph Ulrich; Eichholz Stefa; Giles George; Richards Donald J Leipzig, GERMANY assigned to Hagenuk Fahrzeugklima GmbH; Normalair Garrett L The invention is directed to a system and process operating on an air-standard cycle either to cool or heat a room. The system may be advantageously employed to cool or heat relatively small areas or rooms, particularly driver’s cabins in locomotives and the like. In cooling operation, outside air is expanded in a turbine, cooled below ambient, and introducted into a heat exchanger. Air from the room to be cooled is introduced into the heat exchanger and heat is removed therefrom. Suitable valves are provided to change the operation of the heat exchanger to that of a regenerator and to direct the flow of air accordingly. Specifically, air heated by compression in the compressor is directly introduced into the room and air leaving the room is passed through the regenerator/heat exchanger and released into the atmosphere.

Tajima Makoto Tokyo, JAPAN assigned to Calsonic Corporation In an electronic component cooling unit, one surface of a cold plate, on the other surface of which an electronic component is mounted, is covered with a cover to form a tank section in which a refrigerant is stored, a container pipe is extended from the cover in such a manner that the container pipe is communicated with the tank section, a wick pole is fitted in the container pipe so that a plurahty of axial passageways are formed in the container pipe, and air is removed from the tank section and the axial passageways.

5632157 ELECTRIC AUTOMOBILE Sekino Hirokazu; Yamakoshi Issei Suwa, JAPAN assigned to Seiko Epson Corporation An electric automobile comprises a wheel driving motor and a refrigerating system for air-conditioning the interior of an electric automobile. The refrigerating system has a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger, an expansion valve, and an indoor heat exchanger connected in series by a refrigerant pipe. The wheel driving motor is provided within the refrigerating system, and the wheel driving motor is cooled directly by the refrigerating system.

An air conditioner for vehicles includes a refrigerant circuit having a compressor capable of varying its output, a heat sink and a radiator disposed in an air duct for cooling operation, heating operation and dehumidifying operation modes; sensors for detecting air temperatures at the output-side positions of the heat sink and the radiator, respectively; and a control unit for controlling the output of the compressor in response to at least one of the detected air temperatures. The heat absorbing action due to the heat sink and the heat radiating action due to the radiator are appropriately controlled in the refrigerant circuit side in the respective operation modes without unnecessary heat absorbing and heat radiating actions. Further, the temperature of the air discharged from the air duct into the interior of the vehicle can be properly controlled by adjustment of the heat absorbing ability of the heat sink and the heat radiating ability of the radiator by the control of the compressor output.
