Leah Fisher (1916-1980) Leah Fisher, who was a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, was born in Lithuania and came to America as a child. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and her M.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1938. Following an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, she practiced in that city for many years. In 1950, she began dermatology training at the New York University Bellevue Medical Center and at the

New York Skin and Cancer Hospital, receiving certification in dermatology in 1955. She had already received training in surgery and in obstetrics and gynecology at Michael Reese Hospital. Dr. Fisher moved to the Los Angeles area, where she practiced in Encino, CA, for many years and served on the staff of the Queen of Angels Hospital and the Santa Rita Clinic. In recent years, she was joined in practice by her son, Dr. Steven Fisher-Rabens. Dr. Fisher died in an automobile accident on Aug. 19, 1980.
