Soft starters suitable for temporary use
Michael Smith Engineers has introduced a range of external gear pumps for pumping high viscosity fluids at higher temperatures and pressures. The Zenith range of gear pumps are suitable for industrial metering applications including plastics and rubber production processes including polyester, polypropylene, nylon, acrylic, spandex and other speciality materials.
Ralspeed has developed a range of plug-and-play enclosed soft starters. The units can be installed and commissioned quickly and overload values and other protection settings are pre-set at the factory.
The company says the pumps have highly volumetric efficiency, accuracy and extended service intervals.
The range includes models which cover capacities from 0.05 cm3/ revolution up to 750 cm3/ revolution with maximum differential pressures from 70 bar for the B-9000 Series and up to 275 bar for the HPB Series. Typical applications include pumping abrasive fluids, corrosive and poor lubricating fluids occurring in polymer applications, hot melt glue dispensing, spraying paints and coatings or wherever there is a need to transfer high viscosity fluids at high temperatures and pressures. www.michael-smith-engineers.co.uk
The R54 soft starters are suitable for use in temporary installations, for dealing with breakdowns, and for upgrading existing installations where the time that the plant is out of service during the upgrade must be minimised. They can be used with pumps, fans, compressors, chillers, rock crushers and mixers. The range has reduced inrush current, smooth motor acceleration which decreases mechanical wear and tear, and the elimination of torque peaks during motor starting. Highly efficient wastewater range ITT has introduced its Bell & Gossett Impact series of highefficiency submersible wastewater pumps for commercial and building services applications. The range features the Bell & Gossett self-cleaning impeller and casing and is configured to process solids more easily and reduce clogging while improving hydraulic efficiency. The valves are moulded with non-pigmented, plasticiser-free homopolymer resin and are assembled ‘dry’ to eliminate contamination. They are are available in 3/8 in – 2 in sizes.
