Participants in the 8th Capacity Building Workshop on space astrophysics on the Giza plateau.
A reunion will indeed be possible as a regional conference on high energy astrophysics planned for March 2009, also in Egypt, will have a dedicated session for the workshop participants. This conference is part of the sustainability and follow-up activities the workshop organizers are keen to maintain. A fellowship programme (see p. 3) was recently announced by COSPAR that enables the workshop participants to visit the research centres at NASA Goddard SFC, ESA Vilspa, Harvard CfA, the University of Leicester, and the Open University.
Publications Advances in Space Research
F
ull details of the procedures for submitting manuscripts intended for publication in Advances in Space Research (ASR) were given Space Research Today No. 169. It is recommended that authors with manuscripts for possible publication in the COSPAR’s flagship journal consult the guidelines given in that issue of SRT, and check for updated information on the COSPAR website.
While the responsibility for organizing the workshop itself falls mostly on the organizing committees, lecturers and sponsors, the workshop participants now play an equally crucial role in sustaining and advancing the investment made for the benefit of their own professional development and that of their countries. We trust that they will live up to this challenge.
The all important parameter for judging the quality of any journal is the Impact Factor. The Impact Factor for Advances in Space Research for the years 2000 to 2007 is shown in the diagram on the following page and indicates a healthy rise over recent years.
