Rubber-to-metal A single-coat bonding agent which is effective with both natural and synthetic rubber has been introduced by Anchor Chemical (UK) Limited into their Ty-Ply range of products. Ty-Ply 1863, a solution of blended synthetic polymers and dispersed additives, can be dip- or spray-applied, and used to bond natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene, polychloroprene, styrene-butadiene, polybutadiene, chlorsulphurated polyethylene and polyacrylate rubbers to a variety of metal substrates.

Intended for managers, engineers, and scientists responsible for specifying, selecting and supervising the use of bonding materials, machinery and methods, and technical sales and service personnel; the workshops are intended to provide a study of adhesive bonding technology as applied to structural and assembly areas, with time given for discussion of common problems and participants' individual problems. The first workshop, to be held in New Jersey on 26-28 October 1981, will include studies on: fundamental aspects of adhesion; industrial uses of primers; plasma and electrostatic surface preparation; structural adhesives - epoxies and acrylics; water based adhesives; hot melt adhesives; pressure sensitive tapes, film adhesives; adhesive testing; industrial coating equipment and practices; and mixing and metering equipment.
