December 2016

GE Oil & Gas to provide PCPs and services for Petroleum Development Oman GE Oil & Gas has signed a longterm, multi-million-dollar contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for the provision of progressive cavity pump (PCP) equipment and related services. The contract aligns with PDO’s ‘In Country Value’ initiative to promote local manufacturing. GE Oil & Gas will sub-contract services to Local Community Contractors (LCCs) that will also be trained in the various aspects of PCP services. A PDO spokesperson said: “The award of the integrated PCP contract to GE for the Nimr fields synergizes and aligns with the integrated RRP contract for the Nimr

fields previously awarded to GE. ‘In Country Value’ was an important feature of the negotiations and this contract is further evidence of our commitment to secure long-term sustainable economic benefits for the Sultanate.” Rami Qasem, president & CEO of GE Oil & Gas for Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, said: “The contract builds on our long-term partnership with PDO and underlines our commitment to investing in Oman and supporting PDO to achieve their long-term goals.” As part of the deal, GE Oil & Gas and its local partner Edgo will provide a range of specialized

Xylem opens rental and services hub in Dubai

Amarinth secures €500 000 order for Abu Dhabi project

Xylem Inc has set up a new pump rental and service business in Jebel Ali, Dubai to serve growing demand from the construction and infrastructure sectors, as well as municipal customers, in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Amarinth has received an order worth more than €500 000 from Fjords Processing in France to supply eight API 610 OH2 desalting system recycling pumps for the Al Dabb’iya Facilities Development Phase III project in Abu Dhabi.

The new dewatering rental and service hub will supply temporary and long-term rental solutions, and provide access to thousands of Xylem rental assets from the company’s Flygt and Godwin brands. “The Middle East and North Africa region is evolving at a rapid rate, with thousands of construction and infrastructure projects currently underway,” said Graeme Saunders, director of Xylem MENA’s Dewatering business. “Our new local pump rental and service hub puts us in a very strong position to better serve our customers.” Xylem announced earlier this year that it was investing US$35 million in expanding its operations in the MENA region. The investment, which will continue until 2018, will

enable the localization of products as well as building local capabilities, including a pump manufacturing facility, a pump rental and services operation, and offices in the UAE, Oman and Qatar. “This new hub is part of a larger, significant investment we are making in the MENA region as we work to solve our customers’ critical water challenges,” said David Flinton, senior vice president and president of Xylem’s Dewatering business. “Investment in the new hub also supports our global strategy to help build resilient communities by offering products and services to prepare for, respond to, and recover from extreme weather events including flooding and drought.” www.xylem.com

The eight API 610 OH2 recycling pumps will undertake critical and highly corrosive duties in the crude oil desalting system that Fjords Processing is installing. The alloy 625 pumps with bespoke Plan 53B seal support systems are required on an aggressive 24 week delivery schedule which ran over the summer holiday period when the foundries were shut down for two weeks. This latest order follows a similar sized API 610 OH2 pump order that Amarinth previously secured for a gas dehydration and glycol regeneration package for the Abu Dhabi National Company for Onshore Oil Operation’s (ADCO) Al Dabb’iya Facilities Development Phase III project.

Oliver Brigginshaw, managing director of Amarinth, said: “We have seen a significant upturn over the past year in clients requiring short lead times of well under 30 weeks for high specification API 610 pumps. Amarinth has made significant investments in leading-edge technologies and we have further streamlined our business processes, including throughout our supply chain, enabling us to deliver successfully on what is fast becoming the norm for lead times and we are confident that we can continue to deliver as deadlines will no doubt become even more challenging as the oil and gas industry evolves.” www.amarinth.com
