American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians Call for Abstracts: 2012 Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium Abstracts are needed for the 2012 Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium that will be held on April 26-29, 2012, in Portland, OR. Our goal this year is 50 abstracts. The deadline to submit your abstract for review is February 1, 2012. The American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP) strongly encourages sports medicine certificants to participate in presenting clinical case studies, case series, or original research. Abstracts are also welcome from noncertificants, allopathic or osteopathic physicians, sports sciences professors, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and strength and conditioning coaches. Multidisciplinary papers are encouraged. The format can be found in the abstract section of the ACBSP Web site, www. acbsp.com. An abstract is a great way for doctors to meet the written requirement toward their Diplomate American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP). The abstract is submitted to the Abstract Coordinator. Blind copies are sent out for triple-blind peer review. The abstracts are then accepted without revision, accepted with revision, or rejected. Those whose abstracts are rejected will be directed to a

mentor to assist the doctors with the process (see mentor section below). The abstracts presented at the Symposium will be placed on the ACBSP Web site to establish a database of chiropractic sports medicine research. This database will be available for our own colleagues, allied health professionals, sportsscienceprofessors, andthepublictoview. The written requirement is often a sticking point for DACBSP candidates. A mentorship program now exists to assist doctors who would like to have guidance and assistance with the written requirement. This mentorship is offered at no cost to the candidates. It is simply an offer of assistance for those who are working toward the completion of the DACBSP. If you would like to request that a mentor help you, please call (712/362-8860) or e-mail (
