An International Symposium on Creativity and Cognition Loughborough, UK, April 13-15, 1993
Oueruiew The goal of Creativity and Cognition is to bring together leading practitioners from the different fields of creative practice in the arts, the study of creativity and computer-based support for creativity in order to enable an innovative dialogue. Through papers, presentations, performances and exhibitions, the participants will demonstrate their work and views to each other in order that theory can inform practice and practice can inform theory. The symposium will bring artists, musicians, writers, designers, cognitive scientists and computer scientists together to debate the central issue of supporting creativity and in addition to explore the implications of information technology for the arts in their social contexts. Contributions Submissions are invited in any of the following categories: • formal papers • presentations of art, music or design • poster displays A selection of the best papers will be published in a special issue of the international journal Knowledge-Based Systems. Artists and designers whose presentations are accepted will also be invited to participate in the associated exhibition. The exhibition may tour after the Symposium. Musicians and other performance artists will be invited to take part in a Symposium concert. Selected papers and presentations that are representative of the themes and topics of the Symposium will be published as a book.
