Papers for Presentation 1. Abstracts, in quadriplicate, must be sent to the General Program Chairman (C. F. Hall, Department of Veterinary Microbiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A and M University, College Station, Texas), postmarked on or before May 1. 2. Abstracts must be typed, double spaced, on letter size (8§"XH") paper. 3. The name and address of the author to whom the disposition notice or any pertinent correspondence should be sent, must be typed, well below the abstract proper, on the right hand side of the page. 4. The name of the author who will present the paper is to be typed, well below the abstract proper, on the left hand side of the page.

5. The abstract, not exceeding 200 words in length, should give clear, concise information on the problem, materials, procedure (s) and/or method^) used, results and conclusions. Statements with regard to work in progress, or contemplated, will not be published. No tables, graphs, figures or other illustrations are to be included. (It is recognized that abstracts of some papers for the General, Extension, Instruction, and Marketing Sections, or for panel discussion participation, or requested review papers, may not follow these instructions implicitly, but the general principles should apply.) 6. In the preparation of abstracts, authors are urged to refer to the September, 1964, issue of Poultry Science, pages 1297 to 1379, for the format to be used. It is: title of paper, author(s) (with initials preceding the surname), institution(s) (note the Department or Section or Division name is not included), address (note abbreviation used for State or Province), and the abstract proper. 7. An abstract should not be submitted unless one of the authors expects to be in attendance to present the paper. 8. An author desiring to present more than one paper must indicate the order of preference when the abstracts are submitted. 9. Authors should indicate their preference as to the Section in which they would like to present their paper (see item 11 below). 10. Papers may be accepted for (a) presentation, (b) to be read by title, or (c) refused. 11. General Information: (a) The Executive of the Poultry Science Association has instructed the Program Chairman that he, with the assistance of the Section Chairmen, has full responsibility for disposition of papers as in item 10 above, to assign papers to sections, to limit the number of papers from a laboratory, and to solicit papers with no inference of acceptance for future publication in Poultry Science; (b) the Editor is responsible for the editing of abstracts for publication in the Abstract Booklet and in Poultry Science. Irrespective of the acceptance of an abstract by the Program Committee, he has the authority to delete, or to require modification or revision by the author (s); (c) Reprints of abstracts may be purchased, at ten dollars per hundred, if an order, with billing and shipping instructions, is forwarded to the Editor on or before August 15; (d) Typographical errors, or other minor errors, which occur in the abstracts as printed in the Abstract Booklet, will be

corrected prior to publication in the September issue of Poultry Science, provided the corrections, in writing, are given to the Editor before the end of the Annual Meeting. Major revision, or rewriting, of abstracts will not be allowed. This ruling will be strictly enforced. Nominations for Honors and Awards: Members of the Association should send to the appropriate Committee Chairman nominations for honors and awards to be presented at the annual meeting. NEWS AND NOTES {Continued from page 312) NEWMAN AWARD The Newman Trust International Poultry Award has been made jointly to Dr. P. M. Biggs and Dr. L. N. Payne, Houghton Poultry Research Station, Houghton, Huntingdon, England for their outstanding research work on the transmission of leukosis and fowl paralysis. Each awardee will receive a medal and £26, sterling. CORNELL NOTES John W. Dodge has joined the poultry staff at Cornell University as a Research Associate through a one-year postdoctoral fellowship. He will work on the development of new poultry and egg products. Before joining the Cornell staff, he worked for Nichols Poultry Farm, Inc., Brunswick, Maine. MORTON SALT NOTES John W. Megown has been promoted to the position of Manager, Nutritional Services, Agricultural Division, Morton Salt Company, 110 North Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois. He has served as Nutritionist with the Company since 19S9. He is a graduate of the Univer-

sity of Missouri with a M.Sc. degree in Animal Nutrition and Breeding, and has studied at Northwestern University. I.A.P.I. NOTES Dr. James R. Hay, Executive Secretary for the Organizing Committee for the Fourth Symposium of the World Association of Veterinary Food-Hygienists, met recently with Harold M. Williams, President of the Institute of American Poultry Industries, and Margaret Huston, Scientific Director of the Institute, to report on plans for the Symposium which will be held July 26-30 at the Nebraska Center for Continuing Education in Lincoln, Nebraska. Miss Huston is the Institute's representative on the Organizing Committee whose responsibility has been to make arrangements for the meeting, to schedule the meetings, luncheons, dinners and tours, and to secure financial assistance for the translations and other special arrangements. The World Association of Veterinary Food-Hygienists was organized in 195S as part of a World Veterinary Association. Its purpose is to exchange on an international level the results of the scientific research pertaining to food products of animal origin, to promote cooperation and to exchange in-
