example. report

A healthy white woman, aged 30, has had 3 pregnancies. In 1954 the first infant, a female baby, became jaundiced after 10 days and died after 15 days. In 1955 the second child, a female baby, became jaundiced in the first 24 hours after birth, received a blood transfusion, and is healthy today. In 1957 the third baby, a male, was noted to be very anemic and jaundiced shortly after birth, and died at 2 days of age. The patient has had no miscarriages and never received a blood transfusion or intramuscular blood injection. Because of the previous trouble, she consulted her physician as to the outcome of further pregnancies. The patient was then referred to the Blood Transfusion Service for blood tests. Her blood group was found to be B, Ns/Ns, R’r (CDc/cde 1 P-positive, U-positive, K-nega-
