AORN’s voluntary certification program is an avenue by which individual nurses will be recognized for achievement of high standards of practice. This seminar will provide specific information on the requirements for obtaining certification at the professional achievement level. Standards of Nursing Practice: OR was developed jointly by the Association of Operating Room Nurses and the American Nurses' Association as a means of determining the competency of operating room practitioners in providing and evaluating the quality of patient care in the OR. Through this seminar, operating room nurses will acquire skills necessary for interpreting and implementing nursing standards in their practice setting, thus enhancing the quality of patient care in their hospitals. To be able to contribute fully and gain from an organization,members should have a working knowledge of parliamentary rules. Parliamentary law helps expedite business meetings and offers each member an equal chance to participate in the decision-making process. This seminar will provide a basic background of parliamentary procedure as well as help in making agendas, writing job descriptions for officers, and developing chapter bylaws and policies. Accreditation, registration The Association of Operating Room Nurses is accredited by the Mountain Regional Accrediting Committee of the American Nurses' Association as a provider and approval body for continuing education for nursing. Certificates of attendance are provided for all seminar participants, and 1.2 CEU will be awarded for each two-day seminar attended. AORN has obtained a California provider number, 00667, which can be used by nurses to meet requirements for relicensure in California. Nurses registered in Florida who want continuing education credit will be required to complete information that AORN will forward to the Florida Board of Nursing. The Florida provider number is F000177. AORN National seminar registration is limited to registered nurses. Registration fees include instructional costs, study and work materials, and luncheon each day. A fee of $10 will be assessed for cancellation. Refunds for cancellations will be allowed only if requests are received two weeks prior to the scheduled seminar. Hotel information is sent with confirmation.

All AORN members are eligible. An advance registration fee of $15 will be required to cover guarantees for lunches served during the seminars. All expenses must be borne by the individual or chapter. 1.5 CEU will be awarded for full attendance. Registration must be in at AORN Headquarters 30 days prior to the seminar. Room reservations must be made directly with the hotel before the reservation deadline. Handout materials will be provided, and supplementary materials may be purchased at the seminars. Patients undergoing surgical intervention experience psychophysiological stress. Through the use of a stress adaptation model, nurses will be able to identify perioperative role responsibilities as they relate to a patient's adaptation to stress.
