The four EPO data-bases with bibliographic patent data are described. All four are ON-LINE available for internal needs of the EPO, but so far onI> the European patent (application) register data base is available ON-LINE externally through EURONET. Several problems arising in probiding external ON-LINE access to the other three data bases, as desired b! the users, are set forth, and the vie\\\ of the European Patent Office are presented. To pro\,ide solutions for these problems a special R’orking Group has been set up by the Administrative Council of the EPO, uhich will decide upon the matter in a future meettng.
