Industrial simulators Rediffusion Simulation is expanding the scope of its simulators from just flight simulation to applications in industries such as industrial processing, medicine and defence. The new range is called Interactive Training Systems (ITS) and is built around an American-designed colour graphics system. Rediffusion licenses the system from Regency Systems, and sells it in standalone form at a cost of f12000 for keyboard, disc drive and colour touch-sensitive screen. Interfaces are available to videotape, videodiscs and other workstations in a network. If more simulation ability is needed, this can be provided through interfacing another processor with basic systems software. The schematic results of this are shown on a separate colour monitor, with animation. Rediffusion will provide a courseware design service as well as feasibility studies. Courseware can be developed by the instructors themselves. (Rediffusion Simulation Ltd, Gatwick Road, Crawlty, Sussex RHlO 2RL, UK. Tel: (0293) 28811) 0

Keyboard training A course for keyboard training which runs on business micros including the Apricot, IBM PC, Sirius, Wang and DEC Rainbow is available from Micro-Guide. The company already sells a training course for WordStar, and others are in the pipeline. Both courses are part of the Snowball system. The keyboard course comes in the form of a diskette and manual, and costs &25 for a single user system, and from f89 for multiuser systems. There are 26 units in the course, each one dealing with a different aspect of the keyboard. If required, Snowball systems can be networked using a mini or several micros. This means that trainees can work from remote locations, and receive help from a central instructor . The courses are only available in the UK at the moment, but there are plans to offer them elsewhere. (Micro-Guide Ltd, 14-16 Low Pavement, Nottingham, Notts NC1 7DL, UK. Tel: (0602) 585282) 0
