Dr. Paul D. Aridgides is a senior resident in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Upstate Medical University. His research in the field of lung cancer involves treatment outcomes of elderly patients receiving definitive radiotherapy for early and advanced stage disease. This work has been presented at the World Lung Conference and Multidisciplinary Symposium of Thoracic Oncology. His other interests include pediatric oncology and medical education.
Dr. Jeffrey A. Bogart is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Upstate Medical University. He has been an active investigator in the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) currently serving as principal investigator of the phase III intergroup trial assessing radiotherapy schemes for limited stage small cell lung cancer. He chairs the Radiation Oncology Committee of the Alliance for Cooperative Group Trials (ACTION), is an associate editor for the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, and serves on the Publications Committee for the IASLC.
Dr. Joseph Friedberg is Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System-Presbyterian. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Medical School. He was trained in general surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and specialized in thoracic surgery at Brigham and Womens Hospital/Harvard Medical School. His is a member of numerous national surgical organizations, and heads a Thoracic Research Laboratory, which studies a lung cancer vaccine. He frequently performs video thoracoscopic procedures for the treatment of a wide variety of chest diseases, and is an expert in both open and minimally invasive approaches to cancer surgery.
Dr. Ariel Lopez-Chavez is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and member of the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Group at Oregon Health and Science University. She also serves as a special volunteer to the Thoracic Oncology Group at the Medical Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute. Her main research interest is in the field of molecular-profile directed therapies for advanced lung cancer. 82

Dr. Corey J. Langer is a Professor of Medicine in the Hematology/Oncology Division at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he serves as Director of Thoracic Oncology in the Abramson Cancer Center and coleads its Translational Therapeutics Program. He previously served in the Oncology Division of Fox Chase Cancer Center where he led its Thoracic Oncology Program. Dr Langer is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), and the Society of Head and Neck Surgeons. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and chairs its Medical Oncology Subcommittee. He also serves on the core Thoracic and Head and Neck Committees of both the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and RTOG. Dr. Vincent E Lotano completed his general surgery residency at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, NJ. He finished his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Dr. Lotano joined the Cardiothoracic surgery division at Cooper hospital and was the Director of Thoracic Surgical Oncology at the Cancer Institute of NJ at Cooper Hospital. He then joined the Division of Thoracic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is the Director of thoracic surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital. His current practice is focuses exclusively on lung cancer and sarcoma. Dr. Benjamin Movsas is Chairman of Radiation Oncology at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. His key interests include quality of life and lung cancer research. He serves as the Chair of Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) Quality of Life (QOL) committee. He is also Chair of the Quality Research in Radiation Oncology (QRRO) Lung Cancer Committee, Chair of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASRO) Education Committee, and Vice-Chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Radiation Oncology Expert Guidelines Committee. He has been a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Maria Catherine Pietanza is an assistant attending physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she also is an instructor at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She provides care for patients with lung malignancies, and her research is focused on enhancing therapeutic strategies in small cell lung cancer based upon the biology of this disease. Dr. Pietanza has developed and led several clinical trials for patients with SCLC.
Dr. Charles M. Rudin is the Associate Director for Clinical Research in the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. He co-directs the Upper Aerodigestive Cancer Program, integrating basic and clinical research on cancers of the lung, head and neck, and esophagus. Dr. Rudin directs the Center of Excellence in Translational Research at Johns Hopkins supported by the Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute. He is a member of multiple graduate training programs, and directs a laboratory focused primarily on the development of novel therapeutic strategies for lung cancer. Recent awards include the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Clinical Scientist Award in Translational Research.
Dr. Alan Sandler is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon where he also serves as the Division Chief of the Hematology & Medical Oncology Division, and is the DeArmond Chair for Clinical Cancer Research. In addition, he is the Co-Director of Clinical Research Management at OHSU, and Associate Director of Clinical Research at the Knight Cancer Institute. Dr. Sandler, who specializes in lung cancer, is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and currently an active member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group. Dr. Aaron H. Wolfson is Professor & Vice Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has been an active member of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) since 1991 and participated on the Lung Committee of the RTOG from 2001 until 2009. He served as Study Chair of RTOG Protocol #0212 that was a phase II randomized trial of different total doses and dose schedules of delivering prophylactic cranial irradiation in patients with limited disease small cell lung cancer. Dr. Wolfson is also a current member of the Gynecology Working Group and the Sarcoma Working Group of the RTOG. Dr. Jean Wright graduated from Columbia University Medical School in 2003 and completed her residency in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2008. She was subsequently recruited by the University of Miami Department of Radiation Oncology as an Assistant Professor and has been there since 2008. Dr. Wright specializes in the treatment of lung and breast cancer and has published and lectured on both topics. Her research interest in lung cancer focuses on the development of novel strategies to manage locally advanced disease.
