Dr. Paul M. Kent, MD, FAAP, is an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Oncology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He is the Medical Oncology Director of Sarcoma Program and Director of the Physicianship Program at Rush Medical College. Dr. Kent received his MD and completed his Internship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, his Residency and Chief Residency at the University of Chicago, and his Fellowship in Oncology at Children’s Memorial/Northwestern University Hospital all in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Kent received his Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Kent’s research interests are in metastatic, relapsed and refractory pediatric sarcomas, medical education and adolescents and young adults with cancer. Dr. Kent dedicates this work to his patients, his wonderful nurses - Kristen and Karen, and my family - Margi, Isaiah, Niah, Isaac, Nora and Lili. Mr. Jeff Ording, BS, is a first year Medical Student at Rush University Medical College, Chicago, Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from University of Illinois at Chicago also in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Ording has been a clinical researcher in pediatric oncology and published in the field before medical school. Dr. Elizabeth Dabrowski, MD, is a pediatric resident Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She received her MD from Tulane University School of Medicine, in New Orleans, Louisiana and her Bachelor of Arts in History from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Karina Shah, MD, is a Resident in the Department of Pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Shah received her MD from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from Northwestern University, both in Chicago. Ira Miller, MD, PhD, an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Rush University Medical Center. He completed a B.S. cum laude at Yale in 1986, majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program at Mount Sinai Medical School in 1994, followed by residency in anatomic pathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and fellowship training, first in hematopathology and then in surgical pathology at Columbia University Medical Center. His doctoral thesis unveiled an erythroid lineage-specific transcription factor, Erythroid Kruppel-like Factor (EKLF) essential for fetal to adult hemoglobin switching and for expression of erythroid specific genes. In postdoctoral research at Columbia University he discovered and studied members of the Immune Receptor Translocation Associated (IRTA, also known as FcRH) human and murine gene families expressed stage-specifically on B lymphocytes, to decipher their roles in the immune response and in Curr Probl Cancer, July/August 2013

Dr. Ira Miller has been on the faculty of the Rush University Medical Center Department of Pathology since 2004, where he is the director of the residency program, director of the core lab hematology testing. He practices hematopathology and anatomic pathology with a focus in bone and soft tissue pathology. Luke W. Trafton, is a senior in High School at the Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, Class of 2014. Luke is interested in possibly pursuing a career in pediatric hematology/oncology. Luke is a national caliber swimmer and outstanding student. Mr. Joseph Finney, is a second year medical student at Rush University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He is a former Research Coordinator at Washington University School of Medicine, Division of Oncology, and Washington, DC with focus on recurrent/metastatic sarcoma. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Kuntal A. Rana, MD, is a Radiology Fellow in Musculoskeletal and Body Imaging at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Shah was a resident in Diagnostic Radiology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He received his MD from UIC College of Medicine and Masters in Public Health in Health Policy and Administration from Harvard/ UIC Schools of Public Health as well as a Masters Degree in Physiology from Chicago Medical School. Dr. Rana’s scientific interest is in musculoskeletal radiology, particularly sports injury imaging. Dr. Rana wants to sincerely thank all my faculty who taught me all the radiology I know and to my wife, Aarti and my 2 boys, Krish and Shaan, who continue to inspire me. Dr. John Meyer, DO, is an Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. He completed his Musculoskeletal Fellowship at the University of Chicago and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois.
