Karel Pacak, MD, PhD, DSc, received his MD, PhD, and DSc degrees from Charles University in Prague. In 2000, he started a protocol for pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma at the NIH, through which he has seen thousands of patients with this disease. He is currently serving as Chief of the Section on Medical Neuroendocrinology of the NICHD, NIH. In addition to his clinic schedule, he has co-authored more than 300 articles and reviews, 220 abstracts, and 70 textbook chapters. His research is focused on improving the diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma through improved biochemical diagnosis, advanced imaging strategies, and novel therapeutic options. Victoria Martucci, earned her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology at Colgate University, where she graduated summa cum laude. In 2011, she joined the pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma group at the NIH, working as a post-baccalaureate IRTA fellow under Dr. Karel Pacak. In addition to assisting with the management of patient records and clinical information, Victoria has participated in several projects related to the diagnosis, genetics, imaging, and clinical outcomes of pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma. She has co-authored multiple published articles, reviews, and abstracts.
