is present. The water couplant is recirculated while a special anti-corrosive additive protects the surface of the cylinder. The installation can be used in the works or onsite, is easy to set up, and enables cylinders to be crack detected at high constant sensitivity. cleaning plant
A fully automatic three or four compartment ultrasonic cleaning plant has been added to the ICI range of standard cleaners. The plant (Fig.5) has been designed for throughputs of 25-30 work loads per hour, each weighing 25 kg and contained in baskets 350 x 350 x 275 mm. Work is fed to the plant on a roller conveyor. It is then picked up by the lift mechanism and transferred through the solvent cleaning stages and finally discharged clean and dry on to a roller track at the opposite end. Processing tanks are fabricated in stainless steel and are mounted in a substantial mild steel frame on to which is fitted the work transfer mechanism. Detachable mild steel stove enamelled panels give access to the solvent pipework, electrical wiring, pump and filtration systems, generators and for maintenance, cleaning and solvent recovery. A separate console is provided for the control gear and Dawe generators.
Crack detector for gas cylinders Wells-Krautkramer have introduced a transportable crack detecting machine for the rapid, automatic ultrasonic testing of gas cylinders or components of similar circular geometry. It will reveal longitudinal cracks on the inner or outer surfaces of the specimen, and flaw positions can be paint marked and recorded. The machine (Fig.4) was originally designed for the Gas Council. A twin jet probe assembly is automatically fed along the cylinder and each probe is separately monitored by Wells-Krautkramer USM2M ultrasonic flaw detectors. These control the optional recorder and marking equipment, or alternatively give a visual or audible indication if a crack

The process stages consist of boiling liquor treatment, sion in ultrasonically agitated cool solvent, and rinsing solvent vapour. These can be arranged in any required The overall dimensions of the plant are 3 100 x 1 600 2 250 mm.
