Instructions to Authors / Autorenhinweise Autorenhinweise / Instructions to Authors The “Zeitschrift für Medizinische Physik” is a scientific journal concerned with the principles and applications of physical methods in medicine. It publishes review articles, scientific papers and technical communications Manuscripts can only be submitted electronically through the Elsevier Editorial System (EES). EES can be accessed at http://ees.elsevier.com/ zmedphys/ or via http://www.elsevier.de/zmedphys. Click on “register” if you are a new user of the EES. You will receive an e-mail with your password. (The password can be changed in the system after login under “change details”.) If you are already a known user in the system, please log in as author. You will see the author’s main menu. For submission of manuscript please click on “submit new manuscript” or on “submit paper”. Please follow the instructions in the system. The text of the manuscript, the figures and the tables will be uploaded separately. The submission of your manuscript will be confirmed by e-mail as well as the manuscript number will be sent. You can see the current status of your manuscript at any time after login as author. In case of problems with the online submission please contact the Editorial Office at [email protected]. The manuscript has to be written in German, English or French and should be presented in the following order: – Title of the paper – Translation of the title into English or German, respectively – Name of each author, first name not abbreviated, order: first name last name – Affiliations of the authors with complete address and e-mail of the corresponding author – Abstract in German and English, designed to give evidence of the aims, methods, results and conclusions of the paper – About 4 key words in English and German – Text of the article. Please do not insert tables and figures into the text of the manuscript – Acknowledgements – References (consecutively numbered with Arabic numerals in brackets) – List of figure captions on a separate page, numbered – Tables (Arabic numerals) and list of headings of the tables in a separate file – Illustrations (Arabic numerals) in separate files Recommended length of manuscripts in the journal: survey papers 8, scientific papers 6, technical communications 4 printed pages. One printed journal page corresponds approximately to 2 pages or 4 illustrations or tables, respectively. Introduction with objective, materials and methods, results, and discussion and conclusions should be properly pointed out. Manuscripts already published or submitted elsewhere are not accepted. Microsoft Word or LaTeX text-files can be used for submission. Pages of the manuscript should be numbered in the Word/LaTeX document. If a LaTeX file is suitable, proofs will be produced without rekeying the text. The article should preferably be written using Elsevier’s document class “elsarticle”, or alternatively the standard document class “article”. The Elsevier LaTeX package (including detailed instructions for LaTeX preparation) can be obtained from the Quickguide: http://www.elsevier.com/latex Keywords should be properly chosen according to the nomenclature of international journals. References have to be referred to in the text with Arabic numerals in square brackets [1] (‘Vancouver’ system). They are listed at the end of the text in numerical order, including the title of the cited publication. For citations from periodicals the year of publication, the volume number and the first and short form of the last page number have to be quoted. Examples are given below:

Footnotes: Please avoid footnotes whenever possible except for dedications and similar purposes. Equations have to be presented in the form desired for printing, with clearly distinguished sub- and superscripts, exponents and Greek letters. Choose the spacing between the letters in the equations carefully, e.g. cos ␻t and not cos ␻t. Equations should be written with Arabic numerals on the right. Illustrations and Tables: Figure files should be saved in TIFF or EPS format (final resolution 300 dpi for halftones, 1000 dpi for line drawings). The ratio of the used font size to the size of the diagonal of the figure should be at least 0.02. For previously published illustrations a copy of permission is required. For reference to equations, illustrations and tables abbreviations as e. g. Eq. (1), Fig. 1, Tab. 1 should be used. For further information on the preparation of electronic artwork, please see http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions Reviewing: The corresponding author automatically receives the confirmation of submission from online system. Manuscripts are reviewed by a member of the Editorial Board and two independent referees chosen by the board member (Associate Editor). Referee comments are both general and specific, and it is important for the author to respond to all specific comments or suggestions. The revised manuscript must be resubmitted electronically within 3 months. Final reviewing is performed by the Associate Editor, who will decide on the acceptance of the manuscript. The author will then receive the notification of acceptance by e-mail. Proofs: A PDF for correction will be sent to the corresponding author who is also responsible for fast return of the corrected proofs. An Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view and print your article. Together with the PDF you will get a link for downloading the program for free. After final proof the manuscript is digitally published in ScienceDirect (http://www.sciencedirect.com/) and can be referenced with the DOI number. The DOI is available on the first page of the manuscript. Offprints: The corresponding author will be provided with a free of charge PDF of the manuscript for personal, non-commercial use.
