FOCUS agreement, Sapa can now transfer PPG's coatings warranty along with Sapa's applicator warranty directly to its customers that have purchased coated aluminum products. PPG will warrant film integrity, chalk and color fade when properly applied to Sapa's pre-treated aluminum products. The warranty extends for varying time periods according to treatments and paint type. The exclusive joint warranty agreement begins 10 Sep 2015 and will run through 31 Mar 2017. PPG Launches Liquid and Powder Coatings Platforms for the Automotive Industry PPG Industries' industrial coatings business has introduced a new platform of liquid and powder coatings systems for the automotive parts and accessories industry across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The platform is specially designed for suspension systems manufacturers seeking a supplier that can enable them to increase performance and process efficiency. AkzoNobel to Invest in Performance Coatings Activities in Vietnam AkzoNobel has announced plans to invest in its performance coatings business in Vietnam. As well as doubling capacity at its powder coatings facility in Dong Nai, the company also intends to open a new office for performance coatings in Ho Chi Minh City. The new production line in Dong Nai will be ready in Nov 2015 and will be supported by a 20% increase in workforce. In addition to serving the local market, the expanded plant will also supply customers across Southeast Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand. It will span an area of 175,000 sq. ft. to house Axalta's global research, product and technology development. It will be integrated with the firm's other technology centers in the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Liberty Property Trust and Synterra Partners will develop the project. A long-term lease contract has been signed by Axalta for the building. Construction is set for completion by late 2017 and will be fully operational by 2018. AkzoNobel to Build €30 M Performance Coatings Facility in Thailand As part of its plan to meet the increasing performance coatings demand in the region, AkzoNobel will construct a 120,000 sq. m production plant at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Chonburi, Thailand, with an investment of over €30 M. The Thailand Board of Investment supports the project. The new plant will have an initial capacity of 45,000 tonnes/y. Operations at the facility are expected to commence in 3Q 2016.
