ITT secures major power Hydroflo adds assembly units pump order in India in Panama and Nebraska ITT Corp has received its first major order to supply Flygt circulating water pumps for the growing power market in India. The US$11.65 million order is for a complete electrical and mechanical package for the circulating water and seawater intake systems at the Coastal Energen thermal power plant near Tuticorin in Tamilnadu, India and includes pumps, controls, engineering, computational fluid dynamics, sump model studies, start-up and commissioning.
Once installed, the Flygt large circulating water pumps will be among the largest seawater handling vertical column discharge pumps in India.
Hydroflo Pumps USA Inc has opened its first international assembly facility in David, Panama and another domestic assembly plant in Grand Island, Nebraska.
“This order is confirmation of our progress in India to build capability in the region and to serve the growing needs for all types of water and wastewater transport,” said Sam Yamdagni, president of ITT Corp India Private Ltd.
These plants will assemble and distribute the entire Hydroflo line of vertical and submersible turbines, including the company’s newest Zero Lead Pump.

AxFlow buys Swedish pump distributor AxFlow AB has acquired Swedish pump distributor Chemo-Invest Specialpumpar. The acquisition of Chemo-Invest Specialpumpar makes AxFlow AB the largest distributor of positive displacement pumps and fluid

Ebara transfers hydro turbine business to Voith Fuji Hydro Voith Fuji Hydro KK, a joint venture between Fuji Electric and Germany’s Voith Hydro, is to take over Ebara Corp’s complete hydro turbine business with effect from 1 June 2011. Amarinth wins its first pump order in Saudi Arabia Just weeks after centrifugal pump manufacturer Amarinth signed GAS Arabian Services as its agent for Saudi Arabia, the new partnership has secured an order from Saudi International Petrochemical Co (Sipchem) for an API 610 petrochemical pump.
The new Amarinth pump will be installed at Sipchem’s chemical plant in Al-Jubail Industrial City and will be used for Ethylene Di Acetate transfer. This is Amarinth’s first pump order in Saudi Arabia. www.amarinth.com
Huntington Ingalls to overhaul US Navy pumps and motors Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc’s Continental Maritime division has won a US Navy contract to provide pump and motor overhaul services aboard Navy ships within a 50-mile radius of San Diego. The firm-fixed-price, indefinitedelivery/indefinite-quantity, multiple-award contract was awarded with two other companies and has an estimated value of US$120 million for all three prime contractors. The contract has an ordering period of five years.
“It has been over 13 years since Continental Maritime was a prime contractor, and this award is important in that respect,” said Dan Flood, vice president and general manager, Continental Maritime. “This award provides us opportunities moving forward that we did not have in the past.” Huntington Ingalls Industries was a business sector of Northrop Grumman Corp until a spinoff of the company to shareholders earlier this year. www.huntingtoningalls.com
