Call for Editor 2012 Call for Expressions of Interest Editor-in-Chief Australian Critical Care The Australian College of Critical Care Nurses is seeking expressions of interest from ACCCN members wishing to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief of ACCCN publications. Currently, this includes Australian Critical Care and responsibility for Critical Times. The Editor works in close collaboration with the Editorial Board, and in liaison with the National Board via its nominated liaison officer. The role of Editor-in-Chief includes: • production and management of ACCCN Publications, comprising the official publications of ACCCN as agreed in the contract with the publisher; • review, maintain and manage the appointment of a publication company in collaboration with the ACCCN Board; • continuing improvement of the standards of the professional journal, news magazine, and other media; • develop and expand ACCCN Publications in order to meet reader expectations; • recommend to the ACCCN Board on appointments to the roles of sub-editor and the Editorial Board; • maintain close collaboration and overseeing sub-editors’ contributions; • provide editorial support to authors and peer reviewers; • promote and advertise ACCCN Publications; • liaise with the publisher, sub editors, Editorial Board and ACCCN Board of Directors; and • develop and implement editorial policy regarding directions for ACCCN Publications. Selection Criteria • A critical care nurse with a doctorate or other suitable qualification • Extensive experience in professional publications • Significant experience in clinical, educational and/or research activities directed toward the development of the discipline of critical care nursing • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Current ACCCN membership The appointment of Editor-in-Chief is for 4 years, commencing 1 November 2012 and is subject to a satisfactory performance review after the first twelve months of the appointment. An editor’s subsidy of approximately $6,500 per year is payable.
