CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue on Human Centred CIM Special issue guest editors: Felix Schmid, Brunel University, UK and Andrew Ainger, Human Centred Systems Ltd, Hemel Hemstead, UK In recent years there has been a growing realization of the importance of the interaction of people with the manufacturing environment and in particular with advanced technologies. Papers are invited for a special issue of Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems to appear in 1994 concerned with Human Centred CIM. Suggested topics include: Human centred methodologies for systems design Human computer interaction in manufacturing Human computer interface design Human and machine learning in manufacturing Shopfloor programmable machine tool controllers Multimedia approaches to the design of production and process control systems Flat hierarchies and decentralization Management of technological change in manufacturing Decision taking in human/computer systems Human skill and computer capability in manufacturing Choice of method of organization for computer integrated manufacturing Financial appraisal of the use of automated versus manual production and management systems Human factors, education, training and learning Submissions are invited which describe practical experience and case studies, as well as applicable research. Papers should be between 4,000 and 5,000 words long, plus illustrations. All papers will be refereed, please refer to the 'Notes for Authors' published in each issue of the Journal.
