November 2015

Application flexibility for irrigation and industry Rovatti Pompe has introduced the MEKX100-100 series of horizontal and vertical multistage-electric pumps in microcasted stainless steel. The company says that the series extends the MEKX80-70 range and is designed for irrigation and industrial applications. The company adds that the series is available in three configurations - vertical, horizontal with axial

inlet and horizontal with radial inlet. The product range is claimed to offer good application flexibility and a number of advantages. These include enhanced corrosion and wear resistance due to the microcasted stainless steel hydraulic cells. Rovatti adds that the modular hydraulic cells are optimized in order to provide efficiency close to 80%. The pumps are claimed to have a minimum

power consumption requirement and are easy to maintain due to the Twinner System® (available with packed gland execution) and the Easy&Fast® cartridge mechanical seal. The company says that they are low noise in operation, both due to the design and the microcasted diffuser bodies. www.rovatti.it

Lower speeds reduce noise and prolong service life KSB Group has introduced the Multitec DN 200 high pressure pump. The company says that the latest addition to the Multitec range will be available with four

different hydraulic systems and two to six stages. KSB adds that it is designed for casing pressures of up to 40 bar and for use in water

Low rotational speeds enable the new Multitec DN 200 to run quietly and achieve a longer service life.

Chemical handling of corrosive fluids ARBO has designed a range of thermoplastic mechanically sealed centrifugal pumps for chemical handling or any similar fluid handling applications involving aggressive or corrosive fluids. The company says that in such situations thermoplastic pumps, as opposed to metallic ones, are the best choice. The pumps are made from polypropylene, polyethylene, PVDF or PTFE. ARBO says that the pumps are machined from a solid block and use a manufacturing process that involves no injection moulding or welding. This is claimed to eliminate the potential for stresscracking and provide robust, reliable, corrosion resistant pumping. They are available in three configurations including the SealPro closed-coupled design

which handles flows up to 50 m3/ hr, heads to 45 metres and maximum suction pressures up to 1.5 bar with a standard seal. The company says that they are designed for safe and efficient transfer and circulation of corrosives, including liquids containing solids and viscous liquids up to 200 cP. www.michael-smith-engineers. co.uk/products/arbo-pumps

supply, irrigation, pressure boosting and fire-fighting systems. The maximum head is nearly 400 m and maximum flow rate is 850 m3/h. According to KSB, the pumps are driven by four-pole three-phase motors with a maximum power rating of 1000 kW. The company says that the advantage of the new pumps compared with

higher-speed pump sets with smaller nominal diameters is that, running at 1450 (50 Hz) or 1750 (60 Hz) rotations per minute, they will reach the same maximum flow rate but run more quietly. The lower rotational speeds are claimed to reduce wear and improve the service life and efficiency of the pump set. www.ksb.com

Geared motors for harsh processing conditions WEG has launched ATEXcompliant geared motors designed to operate in hazardous areas and harsh processing applications. The company claims that they improve reliability while reducing energy consumption and operating costs. Combining gear units from WEG’s subsidiary WATT Drive with energy-efficient W22X motors - available in frame sizes from IEC 71 to IEC 800 and energy efficiency classes up to IE4 - the new range is designed for harsh processing applications in nearly all industries worldwide, says the company. WEG adds that Watt Drive’s full range of gear units can be combined with W22X motors using IEC adapters. All gear ratios in the MAS gear unit product line and all drive and flange options

The gear units are claimed to be robust and reliable as they are fully compliant with ATEX standards and feature impact resistant hollow-shaft or shrink-disc covers. Furthermore, all bolts are secured to prevent accidental loosening and heavy-duty high temperature-resistant oils are used. www.weg.net/uk
