LEGISLATION European Council adopts common position on detergents Following the political agreement reached on 19 May 2003, the European Union Council of Ministers formally adopted on 4 Nov 2003 the common position on the proposal for a Regulation on detergents. It was waved through by a majority minus one dissenting vote from Portugal. The new legislation, which is aimed at the free circulation of detergent products within the Internal Market, will bring the current Regulations on the topic up to date. It introduces a JANUARY 2004
