Compact 6 automatic filter tester system To meet the growing demand for test equipment that zffectively verifies filter performance, Air Techniques [nternational (ATI), USA, has introduced a fully-automatic, :ompact filter tester that duplicates the high performance 1s older, larger equipment. The Model TDA lOOI’, designed for testing properties such as percent of penetration, filter resistance and filter :est flow on filter cartridges and media, uses cold aerosol generation instead of the hot aerosol generation technique Ased previously. Aerosol particle size distribution can be adapted to suit specific needs and the system can use Different oils, i.e. polyalphaolephin (PAO) or dispersed oil particulate (DOP). The system is specified to work with concentrations of 10-200 rng/rn,j, with a sample flow rare Df lo-100 litre per minute. According to ATI, the system offers an operating efficiency of up to 99.9995%. The Model TDA 1OOP is housed in a table-top cabinet, with its control panel located at the front. Each test parameter has an individually adjustable alarm set point, which is continuously monitored by the microprocessor. If n parameter exceeds its set-point, a light comes on to indicate that the filter has failed the test (testing cannot resume until the alarm is re-set). The microprocessor also controls the near-monodispersion of the aerosol to enable fully automatic, unattended operation when the system is integrated into an automated production line. Contact: ATI,

process measurements, and interrogate, diagnose and reconfigure instruments from a remote PC using jnternet technology. Severn Trent Services says the development can lead to cost savings in terms of reduced downtime, lower maintenance costs and simpler data acquisition. According to Severn Trent, the capabilities of its Aztec Series 1000 water quality monitors will be greatly extended by being able to bring process measurements and alarms, along with instrument diagnostics and control functions, to a desktop PC. This remote communication can be either factory specified with new Series 1000 monitors or retrofitted to existing field Series 1000 systems.
