The terminal connects to a black and white or colour monitor, giving displays in eight colours'in formats of 40 characters by 24 lines,or 20 characters by 12 lines. Codex has launched a portable digital error analyser for use in most data circuit testing applications. It operates on data rates of 300bps to 10Mbps, generates and accepts eight standard data patterns and performs arithmetic, timing, display and interface functions. The Bleasdale 16-bit microcomputer operates under a version of Unix known as Xenix. Software facilities include programming in C, text processing, and information handling programs for sorting, merging, scanning and translating files. ICL news Two more point-of-sale terminals have been added to the ICL 9500 range. The terminals offer data collection and negative credit checking. Prices start at £ 1,200 each for bulk orders. Palette colours The MA 512 graphics generator in combination with the MA Palette will produce up 256 simultaneously displayable colours on a standard television monitor. The palette operates with up to eight graphics generator boards, using a user programmable colour look-up table. The board incorporates an onboard microprocessor, so that no load is placed on the host computer. The system is supMARCH 1982

Compatible colour Mellordata is marketing the Colorscan range of colour display terminals in the UK. The terminals, which can be used in monochrome or colour mode, are compatible with D E C V T 100, Lear Siegler,Hazeltine and A D D S terminals. U p to eight colours can be used at one time, with 128 standard characters, plus the same number of graphics symbols, which can be customised to meet a user's requirements. Data by hand The Micropad hand print data entry terminal is now available under 3270 BSC protocol for IBM users. Up to nine Micropads, and a printer or console, may be attached to an intelligent controller. For increased connectivity the controllers can be multidropped. Using the IBM facility, programmers can design Micropad documents as part of the 3277 screen format. A nine-pad system will cost £17,500, and is available from the Quest group. Production planning The GPICS

application program offers production control on a Xerox 3100 business computer. The package is modular, offering production planning and the ability to ask "what if?." type questions based on various time periods. Once a plan has been decided, to the level of machine loading plans if required, the necessary work orders are produced, and overdue purchase orders are automatically chased. Colourful character A 14-inch colour screen with eight colour display is one of the features of the Lyme 6000 colour terminal from Gresham Lion. Characters may be displayed on the screen in single or double width, underlined, or in a dot matrix. Background and foreground offer a total of 64 colour combinations.
