Converting existing drawings for CAD Metagraphics produces a conversion system for inputting existing drawings into a CAD system. Conversion takes place in two phases. In the first, the image to be input is scanned into the system. An operator reviews the scan and may correct or add to the scan data. The second phase takes place at an editing station. The operator verifies the model's geometry and dimensions. Inconsistencies in the original drawing are detected at this stage. Metagraphics estimate that conversions costs between $10 and $300 per drawing. Metagraphics' technical advisors include Fontaine Richardson, founder of Applicon, Robert Sproull and Andries van Dam.
