Rockwell aiming at expanded systems The first eight members of a new Microfle× 65 famil'y of modular add-ons for the A I M 65 microcomputer were introduced by Rockwel International at this ~ear's IMMM exhibition. The Eurocard units (edge-connect for the US) include a module adapter foi single cards, a buffer module that adams A I M 65 to multiple-card motherboards, a 4-slot piggybank module stack, a prototyping module and an extender card for troubleshooting, an 8k static RAM card, a 16k PROM/ROM and a two-port asynchronous communications interface adapter. The Microflex 65 bus offers memory addressing up to 128 kbyte, high immunity to electrica noise and growth provisions for user functions. l h e RM65-7101e single-card adaoter connects any Microftex 65 module to the AIM 65 microcomputer's system expansion connector. The RM65-7104e adapter-buffer modu e interfaces the A I M 65 to any Microflex 65 motherboard and will drive up to 15 modules. The RM65-7004e 4-slot piggybank module stack (PMS/ is the first

available card cage and motherboard assemb]\ in the Microflex 65 family,. The compact PMS form Tatter allows low-profile packaging of a Microflex 6 5 ! A I M 65 svslem in a desk-top or terminal style enclosure Fhc RM65-7201e design Drototvpmg module allows Microflex 65 users to develop their own custom circuits. Power and return lines are :~rerouted and plated-through holes allow manual or automatic wire wrapping components and sockets. The RM65-721 le extender card provides easy access to circuitr> for probing by extending a card Item a cage at enclosure, simplifying signal tracing and troubleshooting. Planned additions to me range include boards that will take advantage of expertise within Rockwell, such as modems (where allowed} and bubble memories. Boards with one or two magneuc bubble devices giving 32 or 64 kbvte may be expected. Additional CPU boards, RAM extensions etc., will be introduced at Wescon in September and a PROM programmer and a CRT interface board can be expected sometime Software will no~ be neglected.

Dynamics data entry terminal Data DynamR:s have developed a data entry terFni,'la[ for industrial environmerits. K n o ~ n as ZIP/DE, it provide~ a cluster of 10 numeric keys and foul control switches (with adiacent LED indicators) for entry of data, and an eight-character, seven-segment, hexadecimal display. Connection to the host computer, or control system, is via either a 20 mA currer, t loop or a V24 (RS232C) interface which is brought out to a 25-way Dqype connector at the rear of tile unit. Selection of baud rate (] 10 or 300), one or two stop bits, half or full duplex and even or no parity is made by jump leads or switches wittqn the unit. To provide environmental protection the unit is housed iri a stout metal box and all keys and switches are recessed into the unit's casing. The 0.8 inch high display is protected by a plastic screen.
