ANNOUNCEMENTS

Editorial Board Changes

A

t the January 2013 annual meeting of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) in Los Angeles, California, the following members rotated off of the editorial board after completing their 9-year terms of distinguished service to The Annals: Drs Thomas A. D’Amico, Michael J. Mack, and Mark B. Ratcliffe. Feature article editor Dr Thomas X. Aufiero also decided to end his time on the editorial board after 8 years of dedicated service. The time, effort and expertise of these board members has helped make The Annals a premier journal in its field and contributed immeasurably to the peer-review process, which helps maintain the integrity of our profession and provides mentorship for the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons. We thank them for their contributions over these many years.

Also, as of the January 2013 meeting, a reorganization of the editorial board took place. The steady growth of the journal, now nearing 50 years of publication, necessitated a restructuring of the review process to include a deputy editor level to assist the editor in avoiding delays in publication and providing first rate, thoroughly reviewed content to our readers. The new positions provide for deputy editors over original articles; feature articles; special articles; and our online journal CME. Stepping into these roles are: Drs Verdi J. DiSesa, Philadelphia, PA; Mark K. Ferguson, Chicago, IL; Thomas E. MacGillivray, Boston, MA; and Constantine Mavroudis, Orlando, FL, as Deputy Editors for Original Articles; Dr John A. Odell, Jacksonville, FL, as Deputy Editor for Feature Articles; Dr Douglas J. Mathisen, Boston, MA, as Deputy Editor for Special Articles; and Dr Colleen G. Koch, Cleveland, OH, as Deputy Editor for CME.
