Editorial for Physical Communication Journal 2016
The idea for the PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION (PHYCOM) journal was created in Fall 2007 and the first issue appeared in June 2008. This period has witnessed some of the most exciting developments in the area of physical layer communications, many of which have been represented through scholarly contributions made in this journal. The hard work in the last eight years paid off that we achieved our main objective: PHYCOM is now wellknown and acknowledged for its high standards, rigorous review process, and fast turnaround time. We are delighted to witness and participate in the increasing momentum the journal has earned within the research community. This is evidenced by the fact that PHYCOM gained the coveted SCIE/ISI status by Thompson Reuters in February 2016. Each year, Editors step down from the Editorial Board. In this issue we recognize and thank the editors who retired from the board: R. Agusti, H. Arslan, L. Lai, L. Rasmussen, S. Sun and K.K. Wong. New editors bring continued technical leadership, new ideas and fresh energy to the journal. Recently we have invited twelve new editors to join our Editorial Board and whom we welcome in this issue: M. Banavar, M. Beko, I. Djordjevic, H. Kazunori, Y. Ko, A. Ozcelikkale, H. Saeedi, W. Sung, B.F. Uchoa-FIlho, A.O. Yilmaz, M. Yuksel and N. Zhao. We are very excited in having these new editorial board members and we look forward to working with them. We also express our special thanks to our remaining Editors for their continuing and excellent service for the success of the Journal. Many researchers have volunteered their time and technical expertise during the last year to provide very timely and constructive referee reports. They played a key role to continue the high quality of the Journal. On behalf of the authors, editors and Elsevier, we express our appreciation to them for their invaluable time and help. Special issues give us a chance to cover selected, significant or currently hot topics that excite the community in considerable

breadth and depth. In this spirit, we have worked hard to line up several special issues for the future volumes. If you are interested in serving as a Guest Editor for special issues on emerging topics that fall within the scope of the PHYCOM journal, please, do not hesitate to contact us. We also welcome survey and overview papers for publication. However, this type of papers must comprehensively capture the global view of the subject area of interest. We encourage authors to submit survey papers on new topics that will excite the community and serve as a guide for early-stage researchers. Aside of this, we are continuously looking for high quality technical papers for our regular issues that push forward the frontiers of knowledge. We also express our appreciation to C. Samiullah, Journal Manager, in Chennai, India, and Yanli Gao, Contents Development Coordinator, in Beijing, China for their support and dedication. Requests, wishes, and suggestions from our readers are always welcome. If you have any feedback please do not hesitate to contact us. We will continue to bring you the most important and significant research contributions in the years to come. As publicized before, this year we are in the transition phase that I will be retiring from my EiC position and my successor will be Prof. Tolga Duman effective June 2017. I am very confident that Tolga will continue our legacy and will bring the journal to the next level.
