LOW-ENERGY ELECTRON-COLLISION CROSS-SECTION DATA Part II: Electronic-Excitation Cross Sections L. J. Kieffer
The table giving line excitation cross sections for Argon I and Argon II spectra (pp. 187-190) contained several errors. Also some data were inadvertently left out. The corrected tables are below. In addition to correcting the errors and adding the data mentioned above the classification of the upper level involved in the transition is now given to the left in the more conventional order. The classification of the Argon II lines is now taken from Minnhagen (see note h). Page 218, top. The wavelength should read 4583 A Page 247, top. The label on the cross section scale should read 10-15 cmz Page 250, top. Jongerius (176) data should be multiplied by l0 The classification of the lines in the footnotes on p. 282 should read 18.

ERRATA AND ADDENDA: PART II
a.
Data taken from Fischer (i15). The normalizing factors were obtained from the absolute value given by Hanle and Schaffernicht (8.52 x 10-18 cm 2 at 60 eV) for the 4358 A line of Hg.
bo
Data taken from Hermann (288). The maxima of the cross sections were read and converted to cm 2 by dividing by the number of atoms/cc at 1 Torr pressure and 0 ° C (3.539 x 1016 atoms/cc).
c.
Data taken from Volkova
d.
Classifications according to Striganov, A. R., and Sventitskii, N. S., Tables of Spectral Lines of Neutral and Ionized Atoms, IFI/Plenum, New York, 1968.
e.
~ is in units of cm 2 with the exponent given to the right in the column (i.e. -20 means 10 -20 as a multiplier). The cross section was measured at the maximum unless otherwise noted.
f.
The cross section was not measured at the maximum.
g.
The data were normalized by multiplying by the gas kinetic cross section
