GE explores sale of Water & Process Technologies business Following the announcement of a proposed combination of GE’s Oil & Gas business with Baker Hughes, GE has confirmed that it is also exploring options for selling its Water & Process Technologies business. Ahlstrom and Munksjö to merge Ahlstrom Corp and Munksjö Oyj are to combine, creating a fibre-based solutions company with annual net sales of approximately €2.2 billion and adjusted EBITDA of €249 million. The combined company’s main product areas will be Decor, Filtration, Industrial Solutions, and Specialties, with approximately 6200 employees and 41 production and converting facilities in 14 countries. The Filtration product area includes products used for automotive applications (oil, fuel and air filters), gas turbines, and indoor air quality filters. The combination will be implemented as a statutory absorption merger where Ahlstrom will be merged into Munksjö. Ahlstrom shareholders will receive 0.9738 new shares in

Munksjö for each Ahlstrom share that they own. The merger should be completed during the second quarter of 2017. “During the past two years the Ahlstrom management has executed a very focused and successful business turn-around by shedding costs and by focusing on commercial excellence with new products and value adding solutions for our customers. Mann+Hummel establishes Internet of Things lab in Singapore Mann+Hummel has officially opened its global Internet of Things (IoT) lab in Singapore. The new IoT lab is part of Mann+Hummel’s research and development plan to develop and deliver smart filtration technologies. “The lab in Singapore will be our new Global Center of Competence for IoT solutions. We will harness our understanding of the filtration industry and the needs of our vast customer base and build optimized smart solutions with advanced sensors and predictive capabilities,” said Thomas Fischer, chairman of Mann+Hummel’s supervisory board. “Establishing the lab in Asia especially in Singapore will allow for the acceleration and adoption of these new technologies to take place.”

“We will build a business model by putting the customer first and then select the right IoT concepts to bring innovative value propositions to our end users,” said Nicolas Payen, director of the Mann+Hummel IoT lab.
