Evoqua to acquire Neptune Benson

E

voqua Water Technologies has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Neptune Benson, a US manufacturer of water filtration and disinfection products for recreational, industrial and municipal water markets. Neptune Benson employs 110 people across four operations in Coventry, Rhode Island; Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA; and Montreal, Canada. Brands include Defender regenerative media filter; ETS-UV disinfection system; Vortisand and Legacy sand filters, AEGIS anti-entrapment shields, Dominion butterfly valves, Guardian and ProStrainer strainers, Greendrive VFD systems and Lawson Aquatics accessories. “We are excited to welcome the Neptune Benson team to the Evoqua Water Technologies family,” said Evoqua CEO Ron Keating. “Neptune Benson’s filtration and disinfection products have been well regarded in the industry since 1956 and complement Evoqua’s existing businesses and markets-served extremely well. This addition is a natural fit for us and consistent with our growth plan to double our business by the end of 2021.” Ken Rodi, CEO of Neptune Benson, will become a member of Evoqua’s leadership team and will report to Keating. “We are enthusiastic to join the Evoqua team,” said Rodi. “Not only are our businesses and markets complementary, but so is Evoqua’s commitment to growth, spirit of innovation,

and focus on helping its customers and partners to succeed. This combination is ideal.” Founded in 1956 by Junius and Raymond Gertz as a residential and small commercial pool business, the company later shifted its focus to filtration systems for institutional pools larger than 250 000 gallons. Neptune Benson has grown through the introduction of new products such as Defender regenerative media filter and acquisitions like the ProStrainer product line and Sonitec filtration products. Today Neptune Benson’s filtration and ultra-violet disinfection products can be found in more than 20 000 installations in 45 countries. Evoqua has recently pledged to double the amount of water it treats for reuse and reclamation to 5 billion gallons of water per day by 2021. The company has also said that it will make an R&D investment of at least US$50 million over the next five years to further develop technologies to improve the world’s water.
