ANNOUNCEMENTS CURT P. RICHTER PRIZE IN PSYCHONEUROENDOCRINOLOGY Through the generosity of the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Dublin, Ireland, an Annual Prize has been established for meritorious research in the area of Psychoneuroendocrinology. The sum of $1000 will be awarded annually for the best essay or manuscript (original-research or a review including original research) submitted by a scientist or physician under 40 years of age by 1 January, 1984. The winning paper will automatically be considered for publication in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology and should be prepared according to the journal's instructions to authors. The aim of the prize is to encourage younger scientists to contribute to this interdisciplinary field. Manuscripts should be submitted in quadruplicate to: Dr. GERHARD LANGER Associate Professor of Psychiatry Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Wien Psychiatrische Universitatsklink Lazarettgasse 14 A-1097 Vienna Austria. Deadline: 2 January, 1984. All submissions will be screened by a broad committee of established psychoneuroendocrinologists.The prize will be awarded at the 1984 meeting of the society in New York, U.S.A. The winner will be notified by 1 May, 1984.

FIFTH A N N U A L WINTER NEUROPEPTIDE CONFERENCE

Breckenridge, Colorado, U.S.A., 18-21 January 1984 This conference provides an informal setting for interactions between basic and clinical scientists studying behavioral, biochemical and physiological actions of neuropeptides. The format includes both short slide and poster presentations of original papers as well as symposia on subjects of broad general interest. Topics considered include: the distribution of neuropeptides in the CNS, interactions of neuropeptides and other neurotransmitters, behavioral effects of peptides in human and animals as measured by changes in learning, memory, affective state, and psychopathology.
