Fifth International Brick Masonry Conference

Papers to be submitted for the Fifth International Brick Masonry Conference to be held 5-10 October, 1979 should pertain to the following technical subjects: (1) Manufacture of Brick and Energy Savings, (2) Properties and Behavior o f Materials, (3) Architectural Design and Decisions, (4) Properties and Behavior of Elements and Whole Structures, (5) Structural Design and Detailing, (6) Energy Conservation and Special Systems, and (7) Economic and Social Considerations. Proposals should be submitted to the Conference Secretariat before 1 January, 1979. The proposal should include: the title of the paper and a synopsis o f the content o f the paper in not more than 200 words. A technical advisory committee will decide on the acceptance of the papers submitted. Papers chosen for presentation must be sent to the Conference Secretariat before 1 June, 1979. The authors of papers accepted for the Conference are requested to submit final version as follows: a maximum of 10-t2 typewritten pages, format A4, with 30 lines per page, including drawings, diagrams, etc. Copies should be submitted in triplicate. The length of the paper to be read should be a maximum of 20 minutes. Papers received after 1 June, 1979 cannot be taken into consideration. The British Ceramic Society is hoping to arrange for a party of its members to attend this Conference and continue for about a further ten days visiting brickworks in the United States. It may be possible in this way to obtain beneficial rates o f travel to and from Washington and anyone who is interested in having further details is asked to contact Mr. H. W. H.
