MACHINING

David A. Davidson, Deburring / Surface Finishing Specialist ddavidson@mgnh, dyndns, org

Turbo-Abrasive Machining is a loose abrasive machining method that can deburr and produce edge contour effects very rapidly. The method is especially useful for the final machining and finishing of larger complex rotating components. These types of parts often are not good candidates for other mass media finishing techniques and until now have required very tedious and expensive manual deburring. The Turbo-Abrasive Machining process can automate much of this work, not only reducing labor and costs, but improving the uniformity and consistency of edge and surface effects in a way not possible to duplicate with single-point-of-contact6 machining methods. This uniformity and the isotropic nature of the edges and surfaces that are developed can also markedly improve the surface integrity and fatigue resistance of many types of critical components. Sample processing can be arranged for your parts. Circle 301 on reader service card

CENTRIFUGE SYSTEM

Sanborn Technologies www.sanborntechnologies.com Turbo-Separator has introduced the T10-3AQ Centrifuge System that removes solids such as iron phosphate and dirt as well as oil from parts washer baths. This new size unit expands the company's product offering for smaller washers. Producing a separation force over 1,100n gravities, the stainless steel components of the centrifuge can operate within a pH range of 2-12 and at temperatures up to 180°F. The unit features a heavyduty removable liner that is easily cleaned and is designed to produce a dry solids cake for easy disposal. By removing the oil and solids from the washer the bath stays

cleaner and there is a dramatic reduction in replacement bath chemicals and waste volumes. The T10-3AQ replaces less efficient illtering systems that can require frequent service. Circle 302 on reader service card

T I N / Z I N C PLATING SYSTEM

Pavco www.pavco.com Pavco is pleased to announce the recent release of Volta Sn/Zn Plating System. the market f o r tin-zinc alloys is gaining much

popularity in the automotive industry due to the fact it offers excellent corrosion protection on steel fasteners attached to aluminum assemblies. Tin-Zinc deposits are also resistant to brake fluid and gasoline exposure. Pavco's Volta Sn/Zn Plating System was designed specifically to offer greater tolerance to contamination, improve ease of operation and dramatically reduce the plating time necessary to achieve required thickness. FILTRATION SYSTEMS

Columbus Industries Inc. www.colind.com

The filtration systems offered by Columbus Industries meet the MACT requirements for "existing" (in operation prior to June 6, 1994) and "new" (in operation on or after June 6, 1994) aerospace spray booths. These systems have been independently tested utilizing U.S. EPA Method 319 for compliance with the aerospace MACT standards. This test method is used for quantifying filtration performance (fractional efficiency) against tests which simulate wet and dry aerospace coatings. Columbus Industries offers your spray booth operation the widest selection of make-up air filters, 53

ADD THE POWER OF ULTRASONICS TO ANY CLEANING SYSTEM

ELECTROLESS NICKEL PROCESS Enthone Inc. www.enthone.com Enthone Inc., a Cookson Electronics Company, recently introduced ENPLATE EN-806 cadmium- and lead-free, midphosphorous (7-8%) electroless nickel plating process. Developed in response to industry initiatives, including the End-of-Life Directive (ELV) and the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE), ENPLATE EN-806 easily meets all industry environmental mandates. It offers exceptional operating flexibility and the widest operating window of any midphosphorous EN process on the market today. The process provides superior stability and a consistent plating rate when used in either high or low workload situations. Edge pullback and plateout interruptions are eliminated The end result is i n c r e a s e d throughput, productivity and improved efficiency. ENPLATE EN-806 is supplied as a three-liquid component system. It is ideally suited for automotive and electronics applications. It can be plated onto steel, aluminum, and zinc die cast. The process easily initiates over copper and acts as a good barrier coating when overplated with silver and gold. Circle 305 on reader service card
