Foreword from the Journal’s Editor This special issue about ‘Sustainability in the Information Society’ was conceived, developed, reviewed and edited under the direction of Lorenz Hilty and Regula Fussenegger, who are both with EMPA in St Gallen. I had high hopes for this issue, and I must say that the result surpassed my expectations. It is an outstanding contribution to a topic that is interesting and so very timely. I congratulate the editors and the authors on a fine issue.
