s winter is approaching, my thoughts turn back to the past year for the American College of Nurse
Practitioners (ACNP), and I cannot help but be proud when I think of our many achievements and the many things we have to look forward to in 2006! This year has been a busy one for ACNP—the beginning of my term as president in February saw the announcement of our new strategic planning vision and ACNP’s new slogan, “ACNP. . .

Policy in Action” which really reflects our mission and goals and what we have accomplished this year. Our Public Policy Team continues to monitor national regulatory and policy issues, and we have cultivated a stronger relationship with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which is sure to be important in the coming year. ACNP has added several exciting member benefits this year, notably our great journal, the Journal for Nurse Practitioners, and the free access to mobileMICROMEDEX, an outstanding software package that brings evidence-based information to your fingertips.
