Industry News Letter from the President Gary T. Lane, PAS, President

The PAS journal is one of the best values available to those of us working in the area of application of technology. Show PAS to your peers. Invite them to join ARPAS. It is an organization worthy of their consideration.

This is my last letter as President of ARPAS. This year has passed quickly. There are many people to thank for their services. Bill Baumgardt has been a workhorse this past year. Thanks, Bill, for your service and dedication to making ARPAS a success. Thanks also to the office staff, the officers of ARPAS, and the Governing Council. This PAS journal contains some valuable information. You can help disseminate this information in your contacts with colleagues who are not ARPAS members. The PAS journal is one of the best values available to those of us working in the area of application of technology. Show PAS to your peers. Invite them to join ARPAS. It is an organization worthy of their consideration. I want to invite each of you to attend the annual meeting of ARPAS, which will be held at the national meeting of ASAS and ADSA in Baltimore July 26 at 11:00 a.m. At this meeting, reports of the activities of the previous year will be given, and discussion about new directions for ARPAS will be held. Your input is desired and is critical to the function of ARPAS. I appreciate the opportunity to serve as president of ARPAS this year and give Keith Lusby best wishes for a good year in 2001.

Letter from the Executive Vice President Bill Baumgardt, PAS, EVP

Knowledge, coupled with a commitment to ethical standards, becomes a tremendous constructive power. To be a member of ARPAS, one must agree to abide by the Code of Ethics. We each sign an agreement to that effect when we first apply and then each year as we renew our registration and membership. That is why the ARPAS Code of Ethics is displayed prominently on the website at . I often ask our Corporate Sponsors and other members of the the business community, “what attributes of ARPAS would you like to see emphasized more?” The most frequent reply is “ethics.” They say that ARPAS should serve as an indicator of professionals who are fully committed to the Code of Ethics. An important addition is being made to the ARPAS Ethics Portfolio. The Ethics Committee, composed of Lesa Griffiths as Chair, Robert Albin,
