Graduate Student Research to benefit from corporate contribution The L.D. Caulk Division of Dentsply presented the Research and Education Foundation of the American Association of Endodontists with a check for $10,000 during the Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting in Chicago in February. This donation represents the first corporate contribution to the Foundation's fund-raising campaign which will be used solely for Endodontic Graduate Student Research Awards. L.D. Caulk Division, a leading manufacturer of dental instruments and materials, has committed to annual contributions of $10,000 for the student research program. Tom Whiting, General Manager of the L.D. Caulk Division/Dentsply, was on hand at the CDS' meeting to present the check to Dr. Joseph D. Maggio, chairman of the Foundation's National Council. The National Council is composed of members of the American Association of Endodontists who have volunteered to solicit funds through a grassroots approach for the Foundation. The Research and Education Foundation of the AAE is committed to providing research awards and grants to endodontic graduate students, faculty and established researchers for research conducted in the field of, or relating to, endodontics or pulp biology. Awards for student research projects will total $30,000 and research conducted by faculty will be awarded $40,000 total. Endodontic Developmental Grants in amounts up to $12,500 and an Endodontic Research Grant of $25,000 will also be available.

Endodontic groups recognize Foundation efforts The Edgar D. Coolidge Endodontic Study Club recently fulfilled its pledge to donate $2,500 to the Research and Education Foundation of the American Association of Endodontists. The Club's treasurer, Dr. Henry Feinberg presented the check to Dr. Peter A. Paesani, Foundation Trustee and Coolidge Club member, at the Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting in Chicago last February. The Coolidge Club was one of the first professional groups to step forward in recognizing the Foundation's efforts to expand its research awards and grants programs. The Coolidge Club has more than 100 members from the Chicago metropolitan area. Other groups that have contributed include the Massachusetts Association of Endodontists ($500) and the former Tri-State Society of Endodontics ($2,500).
