PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT GUIDE FOR SPRAY OPERATIONS The use of air nozzles is the focus of a new publication from Spraying Systems Co. This 24-page guide explains the benefits of using air nozzles rather than open pipes or pipes with drilled holes for drying and blow-off. Detailed information is provided on the improvements in process control and reductions in noise and compressed air consumption users can expect when using air nozzles. A wide variety of air products that use compressed air are reviewed. Air nozzles, low flow air knives, variable air amplifiers, and air nozzle accessories are among the products featured. Best uses, benefits, and typical applications are presented for each
product along with complete performance data. A helpful reference section that addresses key considerations in air nozzle specificationcoverage, sound, lineal impact force, and specific impact force-is also provided. GREEN POWDER COATINGS Xiom Corp., developers and manufacturers of the first completely portable polymer powder coating spray system, has brought to market four new coatings for use with its system. The coatings are all environmentally friendly and designed to protect structures against the elements, thus reducing the energy and material costs involved in replacement. All of Xiom's coatings are environmentally friendly and contain no VOCs. In addition, the newest coating-690-is TGIC-free. OSHA has established exposure limits for TGIC (1,3,5-triglycidyl isocyanurate), a chemical used to cure polyesters. To avoid the possibility of skin and respiratory conditions associated with the use of TGIC, Xiom chose to develop a line ofTGIC-free coatings. For more information, visit www.xlOm-corp.com. Infratrol Manufacturing is rolling out the new EcoFlex line of energyefficient, low-emission, modular mini-powder coating paint systems. EcoFlex powder systems are designed for use with small parts and with lean manufacturing in mind. The electrically heated EcoFlex line has very low energy consumption, resulting in huge savings over standard directfired gas systems. A complete system is operational at the company's facility in New Berlin, Wis., to demonstrate its powder coating capabilities.
OVERSPRAY COLLECTION MEDIA CARC (Chemical Agent Resistive Coating) overspray collection media is now available from Columbus Industries. The combination baffle/strainer-type construction consists of layers of slit and expanded kraft with a final layer of synthetic polyester backing to maximize efficiency and strength. Layers are arranged in a graduated-density pattern to redirect and cause the particulate-laden airflow to become turbulent, resulting in maximum contact between the overspray and the baffles within the collectors. This collector design is ideal for extending filter service life. For more information, call (740) 983-2552 or visit the company's website: www.colind.com. Circle 408 on reader service card
